It's New Year's resolution time.
In and among the personal resolutions to be a better person, I have a suggestion for your office – get more out of your office copier(s).
I've written – a lot – about the productivity benefits of effectively using of copiers over the past few years. Today I want to mention a specific technology – ConnectKey from Xerox.
You don't really care about the technology itself (if you do, details from Xerox are here), so I'm going to simply detail five of the many benefits of Xerox copiers and printers built on ConnectKey technology:
- Easy to use
- Apps that turn copiers into productivity hubs
- Improved security
- Smarter energy use
ConnectKey extends the functionality of copiers by adding easy to use and install apps, a focus on ease-of-use for everyone in an office, a focus on improved security, and smarter energy use.
Easy to Use and Administer
Don't discount how easy to use technology makes life easier. Think of the iPhone and how easy to use it was compared to nearly anything else at the time. The easier it is for everyone in the office to use your copiers effectively, the more value you'll get from your investment in them.
The user interface of ConnectKey copiers will have a common look and feel. Instead of remembering how multiple devices work, the two (or five, 10, or more) copiers in your office will be intuitive to use.
Plus, interfaces can be customized for users so they can quickly access their most used functions.
Network management has also been simplified, making integration into networks less of a burden for already overworked IT staff.
We're all familiar with apps these days – from games to workouts to wireless thermometers to calendaring/appointment apps; they help us get stuff done.
Apps on your copier help your office get stuff done. Here's a partial list of workflow and other apps available from Xerox and others:
- Xerox Easy Translator: Instantly translate over 40 languages from your copier, phone, or PC
- CapturePoint Transformer App: A cloud service that quickly converts scanned paper documents (via a Xerox copier) into information that can be edited and acted on
- Info App: Deliver company messages, promotions, and more to the copier user interface
- Customized Scan Apps: Scan to multiple destinations (email, FTP, shared network folders, and more) via a customized workflow that can be personalized for individual users and/or groups.
Most apps can be built or tweaked to meet the unique needs of your business processes. Ask your copier partner for what apps can do for you.
Mobile workers can access the tools they need, regardless of where they are. Print wirelessly from smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices. You can also scan, email, and fax from your phone or tablet by connecting to a copier. Workers aren't tied to a specific location to use multifunction printers.
Device security enhancements include encrypted secure print and print queue deletion, hard disk encryption, and disk overwrite. Information is protected in-transit too via secure email and encryption and the ability to include third-party protections like McAfee Whitelisting.
Consume Less Energy
Office equipment contributes to a good portion of your energy bill each month. As a charter member of the ENERGY STAR program, each new generation of Xerox products use less energy. That's good for the environment and also good for your bottom line. ConnectKey copiers are compatible with energy management solutions, such as Cisco EnergyWise, which help you reduce your energy consumption – and your electric bill.
