How to change the IP address of an imageRUNNER-iR series machine:

This document only covers using the copier control panel to change the IP address of a 'copier only' or 'Canon Printer Kit driven' imageRUNNER. If you have an imagePASS controller (or other Fiery controller) you will need to change the IP address of the machine in 'Fiery Setup'.

IMPORTANT: Settings specified from the control panel become effective once the procedure is completed and the machine is restarted.

  1. Press [Additional Functions].
  2. On the touch panel display, press [System Settings].
IMPORTANT: If a message appears on the touch panel display prompting you to enter the System Manager ID and password, you will need to enter the System Manager ID and password that were configured previously on this machine. The System Manager ID and password was configured to protect the System Settings from unauthorized changes.
  3. Press [Network Settings].

  4. Press [TCP/IP Settings].

  5. Press [IP Address Settings].

  6. Make sure that IP address is highlighted. Then press the [Clear] button to erase the current IP address and enter the new IP address using the keypad. Change the subnet mask and gateway settings in the same manner (as necessary).
    * Since you are manually specifying a static IP address, be sure that DHCP, BOOTP, and RARP are disabled.
  7. Confirm the settings you specified, and then press [OK]. The display returns to the TCP/IP Settings screen.
  8. Press [Done]. Repeat this step until the Additional Functions screen closes.
  9. Reboot the machine via the proper procedure for your specific model.

If getting 'Load A4 Paper' message when receiving faxes from certain clients:

The problem is that the sending fax machine is sending a fax formatted as a different paper size (ex. A4). This is common when receiving faxes from other countries, as they use different paper sizes as standard sizes.

The receiving fax machine can either be loaded with the correct paper size (ex. A4) or the receiving fax machine can compensate by reducing the fax to fit on the paper it has installed (ex. LTR.)

Canon GP and imageRUNNER models are equipped with this setting. Based on the model you have, this setting will be accomplished in one of the following two methods.

Please use the method that is appropriate for your machine. (You will know which method to use based on what you see on the screen after pressing the "Additional Functions" button.)

Method 1:
  1. Press Additional Functions.
  2. Hit Custom Fax Settings.
  3. Select Printer Settings, and select RX reduction. RX Reduction must be set to On in order for the fax board to automatically reduce the incoming fax to fit on the loaded paper sizes (LTR). There is an optional settings button in the RX reduction window that will allow you to manually set how the fax is reduced or it can be set to AUTO.

Method 2:

  1. Press Additional Functions.
  2. Hit Communication Settings.
  3. Under Common Settings, select RX Settings.
  4. Select Receive Reduction and set it to On. Hit OK. There are optional settings in the RX reduction window that will allow you to manually set how the fax is reduced or it can be set to AUTO.

How to perform a clear server on the Canon imageRunner copier:

Clearing the server is an administrator option that can be used as a last resort if a job persists in the system and prevents printing despite attempts to cancel or delete it. Clearing the server deletes all jobs currently saved on the server in any queue, all locally archived jobs, all downloaded fonts, and all FreeForm master jobs. It also clears the job log, the index of archived jobs, and the index of FreeForm masters.

Before clearing the server, export the job log if you haven't recorded the information in it. If you can, notify users that you will clear their jobs from the server so they can back them up and resend them when the server is back in operation.

You can clear the server from the control panel (LCD) or by using the clear command from the Command Workstation.

Clearing Server from the Control Panel:

  1. Enter Fiery Setup (select 'Run Setup' from the idle menu or select to enter setup during boot-up).
  2. Scroll down the Fiery Setup menu and select 'Clear Server'.
  3. It will prompt you to confirm restoring to factory defaults. Select 'Yes' and then 'OK'.

Clearing Server from Command Workstation:

  1. Launch Command Workstation and log into the Fiery controller as Administrator.
  2. Click the Server menu and select 'Clear Server'.
  3. Depending on the version of Command Workstation and the Fiery device, you may have the option to select exactly what items to clear. If you have this option, check the items to clear and click OK.
  4. Click 'Yes' at the confirmation window to perform the selected clear.

How to add a pause to a dialed number while using the fax driver:

The key to use to add a pause to a dialed number using the fax driver depends on the version on mn-cont software installed on the copier:

  • When you have version 31.04 of the main controller software, you will use " p " to add a pause. It is case sensitive, so be sure to use lower case when typing in the letter " p ".
  • On older versions of system software, the period " . " is used to add a pause to a dialed number.

Example: 9p2062822010
