Todd Wordel of The Winnebago Council, Boy Scouts of America soars with new communication opportunities.

Organization Profile:

Winnebago Council, Boy Scouts of America serves over 10,000 scouts in 17 counties in Northeast Iowa. The council leads the nation in percent of youth served and is recognized nationally as delivering a top notch scouting program. Communicating weekly programs, fundraising efforts and service to over 200 units is important to the council’s success.  Cost and limited hired staff were major concerns of the council management. Winnebago Council wanted to empower its employees and volunteers to work more efficiently and provide better customer service with easy access to great communication media.

Situation:

Scouting is a special organization with a blend of history and loyalty combined with financial responsibility and marketing challenges. In order for scouting to thrive, volunteers, members and the community must be aware of the activities, programs and fundraising campaigns.
Choosing the right tools to help manage time and money saving communications is the case in point. Winnebago Council needed to create attractive print media in house to help save time as well as costs. “Winnebago Council must be frugal in conducting its business to survive, but we also understand the importance of good communication through printed media to help promote camping and fundraising.” ~ Todd Wordel

Solution:

Winnebago Council chose Advanced Systems, Inc. as their solution provider. They were easily able to reproduce camping manuals, fund-raising flyers and communication materials on-site. Because documents were created in house time was saved and the need to have minimum print sets was eliminated, no more wasted and unused printed media.   Advanced Systems also provided color and black & white printing at a savings to the council by eliminating paying for walk up printing services.

Saving time and money allows the Winnebago Council to deliver the scouting program and exciting opportunities more efficiently; and the option of printing color media at a lower cost increases communication opportunities to both volunteers and community more effectively for the Winnebago Council.
